A home built on faith.
A home built on faith.

There’s a song I’ve been loving lately that says, “When the Lord builds your house, ain’t nothing can tear it down…” This simple line carries a powerful truth. Whether we think about our physical homes, our families, or the future we’re building, what God builds is strong, lasting, and secure. As I prepare to attend the Home & Garden Show this weekend, I find myself reflecting on this deeper meaning. It’s easy to focus on the tangible aspects of houses—projects, updates, investments—but the real foundation goes beyond bricks and mortar.

This post is an invitation to build your life and home with God at the center. Let’s explore what that looks like and how it can transform everything from your family life to your future plans.

Why Build Your Home on a Strong Foundation?

The Bible says in Matthew 7:24, “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” This verse reminds us that the strength of our home depends on the foundation we choose. A house built on sand may look fine for a while, but storms will shake it. A house built on rock stands firm.

When God is the foundation, your home becomes more than a structure. It becomes a place of peace, security, and purpose. This applies not only to the physical house but also to relationships, decisions, and dreams.

How to Invite God Into Your Home and Life

Building a home with God at the center means more than just faith in theory. It means inviting Him into every part of your life. Here are some practical ways to do that:

  • Pray together as a family

Make prayer a daily habit. It can be as simple as a quick moment of gratitude or asking for guidance before big decisions.

  • Make values clear

Define what matters most to you as a family. Honesty, kindness, generosity—let these values guide your actions and choices.

  • Seek wisdom in decisions

Whether you’re choosing a renovation project or planning your future, ask God for wisdom. Trust that He will guide you to what’s best.

  • Create space for rest and reflection

A home built on God’s foundation includes time to pause and listen. This might mean setting aside quiet moments or family time without distractions and meditating on God's Word.

  • Serve others from your home

Open your home and heart to neighbors, friends, or those in need. Hospitality is a way to live out faith in everyday life.

What It Looks Like at the Home & Garden Show

At the upcoming Missoula Home and Garden Show, many will focus on the latest trends in design, renovation ideas, and real estate opportunities. These are important, but I want to encourage you to think beyond the surface.

  • Dream homes with purpose

What if your dream home wasn’t just about style or size but about creating a space where your family grows stronger and your values shine?

  • Renovations with intention

Consider how changes in your home can support your family’s daily life, function, and relationship.

  • Real estate with vision

Buying or selling a home, or renovating a home, these are all big steps. Let your faith guide you to the right decision, and the right place at the right time. Let me help you make the most of your current or future home so you can steward your assets and resources wisely.

If you can’t make it to the Home and Garden Show, I’m happy to offer a home value vs. renovation potential report or a free design and renovation consultation. Just reach out by text or email.

Reflecting on Your Own Foundation

Here’s a question to consider today: What does it look like for you to invite God into your home, family life, workplace, or future plans right now? This might be a new habit, a change in mindset, or a specific step you take this week.

Building a PowerHouse life and home means choosing a foundation that lasts. It means trusting God in the small moments and the big decisions. It means creating a space where love, faith, and purpose grow.

Building a home is about more than walls and roofs. It’s about creating a life that stands firm through every season. When God builds your house, nothing can tear it down. Let that truth guide your steps as you build your future.
